About Baker 3, Inc.

We started Baker 3, Inc. to help clients with their taxes and to help them save money on their taxes.  We believe that honesty, integrity and ethics really do produce the best tax returns. We love meeting with our clients and getting to know them on a personal level.  We believe that this personal attention to our clients is the best way to both keep our clients apprised of the latest tax laws as well as help them succeed in their individual businesses. We have helped many clients get their businesses off the ground by discussing best practices in business formation, documentation, record keeping and deductible vs. non-deductible expenses.

The people who do the work

Krista Baker, MBA, CPA, CFP®, CEO/CFO        

Krista has been helping clients with their taxes for 20 years. She graduated from the University of Utah with both a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA. Before doing taxes, she worked in corporate accounting for 10 years doing gas accounting and traveling all over the United States training employees on a program she built.  She also taught accounting and consolidations at the University of Phoenix. She enjoys helping her clients save money through innovative tax strategies and business entity formation. She does Individual, Partnership, S Corporation, C Corporation and Trust tax returns. In addition to being a CPA, Krista is also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and helps her clients with everything from insurance, retirement planning and estate planning to investment management. She learned long ago that doing taxes and financial planning were a lot more fun when she got to know her clients.  Her clients are the motivation behind learning about each new tax law and its application.

Robert Baker, MBA, COO       

Robert, married to Krista for 25 years, is semi-retired from 35 years with Questar - the past 23 years in various capacities in IT.  Robert graduated from the ‘U’ with a BS degree in Economic Theory and Statistical Analysis with a minor in Mathematics.   Robert went on to complete an MBA with a Finance specialization from Westminster College.  “I remember both Krista and I studying for our MBA’s together, it was a stressful but enjoyable time for us, way back when we were young and in love.”  Robert has also been an EMT for six years and did taxes with Gary A. York & Associates for three years.  “I’m excited to be working with Krista again as we met and worked together at Questar some 27 odd years ago and have made a great team ever since”.

Harrison Baker, CTO/CMO         

Harrison graduated from the University of Utah summa cum laude with a Bachelor's in Accounting and Information Systems (double major) as well as a Master's in Accounting degree with an emphasis in Business Analytics. He strives to look for ways to simplify existing and new processes in the business field. In the past, he has placed in the Salt Lake Valley Science and Engineering Fair, won a $6000 grant to replace equipment in a local high school's auditorium, and participated in and received a Superior designation for over 10 years in Music Federation. In his spare time, he likes to read, go to shareholders' meetings, keep up on the news, and play board games.

Marilee Burgon, Bookkeeper     

Marilee has been a friend of Krista’s since 4th grade. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Utah after which she worked in accounting at an office furniture business where she kept up with the daily Accounts Receivable and solved problems with old bills that hadn’t been paid.  Marilee then worked for 10 years as a Paraprofessional in Literacy at her local Elementary so that she could be home while raising her 5 children. Marilee started working for Baker3 as a bookkeeper in 2019 and really enjoys helping businesses with QuickBooks.  She appreciates working with the Bakers because of their honesty and integrity and because they introduced her to her husband!
